On the weekend of May 26 and 27 I had the great honor of being a guest speaker at WonderFest 2007––an annual sci-fi convention held in Louisville, KY. It is a "Weekend of Fun for Movie and Model Fans," as WonderFest.com puts it.

The convention staff invited me to come, as they said my experiences with the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry, and my work with the movie 5-25-77 are just what WonderFest attendees would want to hear about.

Along with a slide presentation of several photos, I brought three of the models I built for 5-25-77 that were exhibited in the display room.

A major reason I wanted to do WonderFest was that I wanted to meet model and sci-fi fans who, like me, are dreamers. The theme of my message was that dreams can come true. If it could happen to me it could happen to anyone!

After my talk there were a lot of questions that I was happy to answer. Even my wife, Tina, was asked a few unexpected questions.

Afterward, many people came to me to say how inspired they were by my story...and that is what it's all about!

Our many thanks to the staff of WonderFest for having us, and for a wonderful weekend!
